How to Become a Casino Affiliate in 2026
To become a casino affiliate you apply to an online casino's affiliate program (or to an affiliate network that lists several), get approved, and place your tracking links on content people find useful: a website, a stream or an email list. When someone clicks your link, signs up and deposits, the casino credits that player to you and pays commission. Joining is normally free. What gets you approved, and what keeps you paid, is a real audience, honest content and following the advertising rules of each market you target.
This guide covers what you need before you apply, the steps in order, how approval works and the rules that apply from your first page. Targeting betting rather than casinos? Read how to become a betting affiliate instead.
The short version
- In Great Britain you do not need your own Gambling Commission licence to be an affiliate, but you may only promote operators it has licensed, and your pages count as gambling advertising.
- Programs pay by CPA (a one-off amount per new depositor), revenue share (a percentage of what your players lose) or a hybrid of both.
- Managers approve you by looking at your site or channel, so build something real first.
- Operators answer for their affiliates' marketing, so they can end your contract if you break the advertising rules.
What a casino affiliate does
A casino affiliate is a marketer, not a gambling business. You don't take bets, hold player money or run games. You help people choose between licensed casinos with reviews, bonus comparisons, slot guides or streams, and you send them to the casino through a tracking link. The casino pays you for the players that link brings in. Our guide to how casino affiliate programs work explains tracking and payment in detail.
That is also the main difference from running a casino, which needs licences, payment processing and a compliance team. See how to start a gambling website for the two routes side by side.
Do you need a licence or qualifications?
Qualifications: none. There is no exam or certificate for affiliates. Programs judge you on your site, your traffic and how you promote their brand.
A gambling licence: in Great Britain, the Gambling Commission licenses the casinos, not affiliates who only publish content and link to them. Its rules still reach you in two ways:
- Under its licence conditions, a casino is responsible for the third parties it contracts with, affiliates included. Its contract with you must make you follow the same conditions and codes while you work for it, and let it end the contract promptly if you breach a relevant advertising code.
- The Advertising Standards Authority says the UK advertising codes apply to affiliate marketing on your own website and on social media.
Other countries differ. Some regulators license or register affiliates, and in the United States rules vary by state (New Jersey's Division of Gaming Enforcement, for example, licenses affiliates). Before you target a market, check what its gambling regulator says about affiliates, and ask the program whether it pays for traffic from there. Our guide to UK casino affiliate rules covers Great Britain in full.
How to become a casino affiliate in 7 steps
- Pick one market. Choose the country you will write for, and promote only casinos licensed for it. A British site promotes casinos licensed by the Gambling Commission, which you can check on its public register. One market is easier to rank in and easier to keep compliant than five.
- Learn the rules before you publish. Read the advertising codes for your market and the UK affiliate rules guide if it is Great Britain. Fixing a page later costs less than losing a contract.
- Build something real to show. Programs approve affiliates who have an audience or a live site with original content. That can be a site with slot or casino reviews, a stream, or an email list. An empty template is usually rejected. Our step-by-step guide to starting a casino affiliate website covers the site side, and becoming a slot streamer covers the stream side.
- Choose where to apply. Apply to casinos' own programs for brands you would honestly recommend, or join an affiliate network that gives you many brands through one account. Many affiliates use both.
- Apply and answer honestly. Give your site address, the market you target, your traffic sources and a professional contact email. Don't overstate your traffic.
- Add your tracking links with sub-IDs once you are approved, so your reports show which page and button produced each player. Show an affiliate disclosure and the 18+ and safer gambling messages with every offer.
- Publish useful pages, then review the numbers. Reviews, bonus pages with the real terms, slot guides and comparisons. Cut what produces no players and improve what does.
How approval works
Most programs review applications by hand, and they are allowed to say no. An affiliate manager typically looks at:
- Your site or channel. Is it live, original, in the right language for the market, and not a copy of someone else's?
- Compliance basics. An 18+ notice, responsible gambling messages and clear bonus terms.
- Your traffic. Where visitors come from (search, stream, social, email) and whether it matches the markets the casino accepts.
- Your details. A working contact address, and payment details when you are paid.
How long a decision takes depends on the program, so ask when you apply. If you are turned down, ask what to change and apply again once you have changed it. Common reasons for a decline are a site that is too new or too thin, or one aimed at a market the casino does not serve.
Once approved, an affiliate manager is also your route to better terms later: higher rates, a lower admin fee or exclusive bonuses go to affiliates who send players who stay.
Choose a deal: CPA, revenue share or hybrid
| CPA | Revenue share | Hybrid | |
|---|---|---|---|
| You are paid | A fixed amount once per qualifying new depositor | A percentage of the net revenue your players generate, as they play | A smaller CPA plus a smaller revenue share |
| Cash flow | Predictable, paid soon after a player qualifies | Slower at first, can keep paying for as long as players play | Some of each |
| Risk | Low: you know what a player is worth | Higher: a month where players win can leave a negative balance | In between |
Read the terms for each: how net revenue is calculated, what is deducted, what a player must do to qualify, and whether a negative balance carries over to the next month. Our guide to how casino affiliate programs work has a checklist for all of it.
The rules to follow from day one
If you target Great Britain, these are the points that catch new affiliates. They are general information, not legal advice, and the full detail is in our UK affiliate rules guide.
- Promote only licensed operators. Send British visitors only to casinos licensed by the Gambling Commission, and use GEO targeting so visitors from other countries don't see offers meant for the UK.
- Make your marketing obvious. The ASA says consumers must be able to tell content is advertising before they engage with it. If everything on a page promotes affiliated casinos, mark the whole page as an ad; if only some links do, label those parts.
- Follow Section 16 of the CAP Code (gambling). It requires gambling marketing to be socially responsible, not to be of strong appeal to under-18s, and not to feature anyone who is, or seems to be, under 25 gambling or playing a significant role. Read it on the ASA website.
- Show real bonus terms. Since 19 January 2026 the Gambling Commission has capped wagering requirements on bonuses at 10 times and banned offers that mix gambling products, such as betting and casino. See its announcement. Copy about higher wagering is out of date.
- Point people to help. Link to BeGambleAware and GAMSTOP, and never target people who have self-excluded.
How to make money as a casino affiliate
Earnings come from three things you can measure: the visitors you get, how many of them click through and deposit, and what each player is worth under your deal. No reliable average exists, and most new sites earn little or nothing at first, because search traffic on a new domain takes months to arrive. Our guide to how to make money as a casino affiliate has the formula and four worked scenarios, clearly marked as illustrations rather than typical results.
Two habits do most of the work: send players to casinos they will actually want to stay with, because programs reward affiliates whose players keep playing, and improve your best ten pages before you write a hundred new ones.
Mistakes that get affiliates rejected or paid nothing
- Applying with an empty or copied site. Build real pages first.
- Targeting too many countries. Each market has its own licences and rules, and a program won't pay for traffic from a market it doesn't serve.
- Hiding the commission. Pages presented as independent reviews, with no disclosure that you are paid, break the advertising rules.
- Showing old bonus terms. Expired offers and out-of-date wagering claims are misleading. Review bonus pages regularly.
- Skipping the contract. Not reading the net revenue formula, qualifying rules or marketing restrictions is how affiliates have commission withheld.
- Giving up after two months. Search traffic builds slowly; plan for a long runway.

Frequently asked questions
How do I become a casino affiliate?
Build a site, stream or email list people find useful, apply to casino affiliate programs or an affiliate network, and wait for approval. Once approved, you add your tracking links to your content and are paid when the players you send sign up and deposit.
Do you need a licence to be a casino affiliate?
In Great Britain, no: the Gambling Commission licenses casinos, not affiliates who only publish content and link to them. You may only promote licensed operators, the advertising codes apply to your pages, and the casinos you join will make you follow the rules in their contract. Other countries differ, so check the regulator for each market you target.
How much does it cost to become a casino affiliate?
Affiliate programs normally charge nothing to join. Your costs are your website or channel, a domain if you want your own and the time it takes to publish content. BettingWebsiteBuilder is free for 6 months during the beta.
Can I be a casino affiliate without a website?
Some programs accept streamers and social media creators, but most prefer a live website with original content, and it makes approval much easier. Whatever the channel, the advertising rules apply to it.
Why was my casino affiliate application rejected?
Common reasons are a site that is empty, new or copied, traffic from a market the casino does not serve, or missing 18+ and responsible gambling messages. Ask the affiliate manager what to change and apply again once you have changed it.
Is it better to be a casino affiliate or a betting affiliate?
Neither is easier in itself. Casino affiliates promote casinos and slots; betting affiliates promote bookmakers, usually through tips, previews and odds content that follows the sporting calendar. The rules and deal types are similar. Read how to become a betting affiliate to compare.
